First hand experience with Egoscue...
As an exercise science major at Gonzaga University, Matt was an NCAA Division 1 runner in cross-country and track but was continuously hampered by injuries that included: foot pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, and anterior compartment syndrome. After discovering Egoscue through a co-worker, Matt was able to bring his body back into balance, eliminating the root cause of his pain.
Needless to say, his running has never been better and he looks forward to applying his Egoscue knowledge with his children.
As a resident of Portland, he also enjoys hiking in Forest Park, Washington Park and the Columbia River Gorge as well as road and mountain biking, basketball, soccer, obstacle course workouts, and playing with his kids. Plus, by continuing to practice Egoscue every day, he's able to do it all without pain or limitations.
Featured as a contributing writer for
Wellsphere, Matt has been recognized as one of the leading health bloggers on the web. He also routinely presents seminars and workshops on posture and its relationship to chronic pain and athletic performance to participants throughout the country ranging from fitness and wellness professionals to medical practitioners.

Enabling people to be better than ever before
For almost a decade, Martin McFarland has been part of the Egoscue worldwide family, helping hundreds of clients with a dramatically improved quality of life. He gains great value through this work and has helped chronic pain clients eliminate the constant discomfort suffered by those with pain in their back, knees, feet, neck and shoulders, as well as herniated discs, stenosis, meniscus tears and plantar fasciitis.
As co-owner of the Egoscue clinic in Portland, OR, Martin's professional approach provides dynamic exercises, personal maintenance and home techniques in combination with strong emotional support that realign the body's anatomical design and natural state of well-being.
Martin knows Egoscue works all too well. Diagnosed with Scoliosis, he was relatively pain free until he was seriously injured in a bicycling accident at age 19. After numerous attempts to rid his body of this pain, he was not able to fully recover and continued to suffer with hip and back pain 24 hours a day for the next 10 years. Like you, the pain was often so debilitating that it began to impact his relationships, work performance, sleep and all other aspects of his life. On an emotional level, it was nothing short of devastating.
Martin found Egoscue in 1999, referred to the approach by a co-worker. Not only did Egoscue teach him to pay attention to his body, it also defined his career path, inciting him to share the same potential with others who are afflicted with chronic pain.
Removing all limitations
Martin takes pride in the continuous development of people of all ages, from young athletes requiring rehabilitation after an injury to baby-boomers seeking a proven methodology that will allow them to continue walking, running, cycling, golfing and participating pain-free in a vast range of activities they enjoy.

Creating a personalized approach that seeks answers from within
Everyone's path to wellness is different. For nearly a decade, Kelly's approach has drawn on the Egoscue methodology to make her clients aware of their body and its limitations and ask questions about the pain they're experiencing to discover the true source, moving past it one exercise at a time.
The human body has an amazing ability to heal itself given the proper tools and at the Portland Egoscue Clinic, Kelly prides herself on her ability to listen, really listen, to Egoscue clients, helping reconnect them with their body's design... and what it's designed to do.
