What is the Egoscue Method?
In a nutshell, the Egoscue Method is about posture - helping people get out of pain and improve their physical function. Our bodies have four sets of load-bearing joints: the ankles, knees, hips, and shoulders. When any of these become misaligned, it impacts all the others and can lead to restricted movement and pain. What can I expect from a "session" at the Sacramento Clinic?
Your Egoscue therapist will sit down with you and do a thorough intake of information specific to whatever pains or physical limitations you present, which may include questions not seemingly pertinent to your issues. You will be asked to wear clothing such that we can see your shoulder blades and shoulders, waist (for hip/pelvic position), and knees, so when we take pictures from all four sides we can print them up and show you what we see going on posturally. Based on our findings, we will put together a “menu” of exercises that address your specific issues. The rest of the session will be putting you through each of those exercises to ensure that they are right for you, and that you are able to execute them properly.

At the Sacramento clinic, expect your first session to run as long as a couple hours. There is a lot of one-on-one discussion about anatomy, posture and functional movement, and pain relative to what we observe about your body, and that process can take awhile. Succeeding sessions are generally about an hour long.
