Exercises For Hip Pain

Most hip pain is triggered by some combination of underuse, overuse, muscle strain or injury to muscles and ligaments that lead to compensation in the rest of the body and overall imbalance in the musculoskeletal system. Often these changes go unnoticed because the body unknowingly avoids the pain stimulus or extra muscular demand, but the mechanical changes will eventually show up as pain in your body, or more specifically hip pain or arthritic hip pain in many cases.

If you experience frequent, chronic or arthritic hip pain, movement is the key. The Egoscue Method of non-medical pain relief has had enormous success in helping people overcome their physical ailments. It is a technique that is attractive to many people because it is a common sense approach to the human body. Egoscue has a catalog of over 900 different exercises, including exercises to relieve hip pain and exercise for arthritic hip pain, which are designed to change the way you move, stop your body from compensating for imbalances, and address the dysfunction in your body.

After a thorough evaluation of the way you move, walk and perform certain maneuvers, an Egoscue therapist will put together a series of personalized exercises for hip pain which you then do at home. There is no special equipment required - our primary source of resistance is your body weight and the force of gravity - but you will be responsible to do it on your own.

Each exercise is generally of low demand and as the neuromuscular efficiency improves, the exercises for hip pain will become less effective. Therefore, the body must be put under an increased or varied demand to adjust to the changes that have occurred as a result of the prior routine. This provides the means to continued progress. The exercises are performed for an average of seven days. At this point we re-evaluate the patient and redesign the hip pain exercise routine accordingly. Patients on the average are seen once a week for eight weeks.

By employing our arthritic hip exercises, exercises for hip pain, and numerous others, you will be able to see and feel the physical changes that take place as a result of your efforts, and benefit from an increased feeling of confidence that accompanies your improved health.
